Family road trips can be a lot of fun, and it is not uncommon for everyone to pile into the car to travel from their home in British Columbia and spend some time in Seattle. After all, it isn’t that far of a drive, and there is plenty for adults and children to do and see in the city. Even a flight is only an hour from Kelowna and if you are on Vancouver island, hop on a passenger ferry and explore Seattle for the day.
Here are 6 things to do in Seattle for families:
- Artists at Play Playground
Every child loves to play outside, and the entire family will love the artwork that is incorporated into this playground. Children can climb up the massive thirty-five-foot structure by either scaling the rope ladders or taking a more adventurous path that includes climbing nets and rope passageways. Once they reach the top, they’ll have the choice of two tubes to slide down, before they do it all over again!
- The Museum of Flight
The Museum of Flight has a plethora of aircrafts, spacecrafts, artifacts, and exhibits that seem to come to life in front of every visitor’s eyes. While the entire museum is amazing, children will love the Kids’ Flight Zone, where they can put on a flight harness and use a hang gliding simulator.
- Seattle Aquarium
The 120,000-gallon aquarium is only one of the features at the Seattle Aquarium, but it is the most famous, three times a day, as divers enter the water to answer questions from the audience. Visitors can also view the two touching tide pools, a pacific coral reef exhibit, and an underwater dome.
- Seattle Center Fountain
Any family that finds themselves in Seattle during the hot days of summer will want to schedule some time at the Seattle Center Fountain. This fountain looks like half a sphere, which might not seem to fantastic, but everyone will love it once they realize that it is actually a splash park that plays music. Hot sticky children and adults problem resolved!
- Seattle Children’s Theatre
Some of the theater performances that are available in cities nationwide are not very family friendly, but that is not the case at the Seattle Children’s Theatre. This theater offers performances that cater towards families, so everyone in the audience is guaranteed to have a fantastic time.
- Kelsey Creek Farm
Really young children will get the most out of a visit to the Kelsey Creek Farm, but that doesn’t mean older children won’t love it just as much. There are plenty of pigs, sheep, cows, horses, bunnies, and chickens to visit at this farm, plus a playground. There are walking trails for even more adventures and many families will want to pack a picnic lunch to eat while they are there.
These are only a few of the potentially hundreds of options that families have when visiting Seattle from their homes in British Columbia. It isn’t possible to do everything in just one trip to the city, so people will need to plan another visit sometime soon. That way they can enjoy more of what the city has to offer.
