The following post has been brought to you by cars.com All opinions are my own
Driving in British Columbia is not like anywhere else I have ever driven before. Come October you better make sure you have winter tires on your vehicle as the weather conditions can change quickly. The windy mountain roads makes for some of the toughest driving conditions I have ever seen before. Many vehicles have spiked tires or carry chains as well if they are driving through the mountain passes during the snowy months. After living here for a few years, we will never buy a vehicle that is not four wheel drive either. You just never know when you may get yourself and your car stuck.
Since we live in such a beautiful place we go on a lot of road trips. Right now we are looking to buy a truck for our teen son. Choosing the right truck for him is not an easy task. what mom and dad feel is needed in a vehicle is not necessarily what a teen is after. Below is a list of tips to help you chose the right road trip vehicle. Hopefully it helps!
Choosing the Right Road Trip Vehicle
Consider where you live
If you live somewhere there is lots of snow or rain, you may be looking for a 4 wheel drive vehicle like us. Living in a sunny place near the beach, you may be able to go with a convertible. Where you live will highly influence the type of vehicle you drive.
Know your budget
when buying a vehicle consider any upgrades you may need as well as maintenance. we have a great car that is super affordable on gas but the oil changes are almost 4 x the amount of any car I have ever owed. Every year you need winter tires if you live in a place like me. This is not cheap, so budget accordingly. Your budget should be taken into consideration even after you have brought the vehicle home.
How many people will be traveling with you
As cute as a 2 seater is, it is not really practical for families. Even a big truck with a bench seat is no good if you ever want to travel with more than two people. Lets be realist, even two would be pushing it in a truck some days. Don;t let the size of your vehicle restrict you from traveling with those you love and enjoying the road ahead.
when traveling we need lots of room. Room for the kids to stretch out and play their games or read. we also need room for luggage and snacks. Be sure to buy a car with room for all your stuff you take along on your road trips.
Roads trips are really affordable ways to travel as a family. When buying a car you will want to find out how fuel efficient it is. No sense buying something that you can not actually afford to drive.
