Did you know that dogs have 42 teeth and cats have 30, similar to a human smile of 32 pearly whites?
February is Pet Dental Health Month and pet owners often forget the importance of their pet’s dental health. Dental disease is the most common health issue among pets and studies show that by age three, signs of gum disease can be seen in 80 per cent of dogs and 70 per cent of cats.
Symptoms can consist of:
- Bad breath
- Swollen gums
- Bleeding gums
- Weight loss
- Difficulty eating
Providing balanced meat-based meals, brushing their teeth or providing them with chew toys and treats are among the many easy ways to keep your pet’s chompers clean and healthy.
